“The Phantom of the Opera” is a masterpiece. It was published
first time like a novel by Gaston Leroux, in 1910. The writer, a Frenchman, was
a lawyer, journalist and author of many fantastic novels, but none so enduring
as “The Phantom of the Opera”. This Work had a first version for the cinema, by
Universal Studio, in 1925 and won other movie versions in the following years.
Because of the great success “The Phantom” was adapted as a Broadway musical by
Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1986. The last movie version was in 2004.
The plot is developed in the Opera House of Paris and
tells about everyday life in the theatre. But nothing is as common as it looks.
Legends, myths and mysteries involve this story. Beneath the opera house, in
the catacombs, lives a man. Who is this man? I invite you to meet him. First of
all, he is a musical genius. He has a disfigured face quoted as "The mask
of death" and he falls in love with Christine Daeé. Who is Christine? She
is a young orphan choral singer who has lived in the opera since her childhood.
Before her father's death, he told her that he would send her an angel,
"The angel of music". Christine grew up and started to hear a
voice. To whom belongs this voice? So, a
masked man appears to her and volunteered to give her singing lessons, but
there is one condition: she could never see him without the mask! Why?
Christine is engaged with Raoul, the Vicomte of Chagny.
Do you like romance? As you can see, there is a love
triangle, but this story is not about love only. This story explores important
points about the human soul, such as love, hate, passion, obsession,
forgiveness. Why is the phantom so attractive? How can a man be an angel and a
murderer, such a sensitive soul with such a violent instinct? The beauty and the
beast are in the same person. And finally, do you like mystery? Discover by
