REVIEW ABOUT THE FILM “UNTRACEABLE"

                                                                                DAYVISON ANDERSON CARDOSO FARIAS

“Untraceable” was a film produced in 2008, written by Robert Fyvolent and Mark Brinker, and directed by Gregory Hoblit. The film tells Jennifer Marsh’s story, a FBI agent played by actress Diane Lane. Her job is to investigate cyber crimes, together with her partner Griffin Dowd, played by the actor Colin Hanks. In other words, they have to discover the identity of people who divert funds from others, due to a virus in the computer. However, agent Marsh is about to face her most difficult case: who is behind a home page called KillWithMe.com, in which a serial killer makes available in live streaming video the people he intends to kill. The film really starts when Marsh receives a website written down on a piece of paper (www.killwithme.com). When she accesses this website, she comes face to face with his first victim: the Lulu cat. The killer shows visitors all the suffering of his victims, and a distorted use of interactivity that characterizes the Internet, for the ordeal of those who are in the serial kilelr´s hands are directly proportional to the number of visitors the site attracts. The film ends when the serial killer, played by the actor Joseph Cross, is caught by the agent Marsh when she is captured by him. She shoots him until he dies. There’s no unexpected twist because the end of the film is very obvious, like most of these films ( a series of clichés provided by the immaturity of its script). The film involves some crimes, as well as serial killing, but the main crime is the cyber crime. The punishment that he got is not really fair, I think that he should have paid for his crime with life imprisonment.
I recommend this film to everyone who stays on the internet for much time, buying, meeting people, playing games, downloading all types of files. Internet is an important work and study tool, for fun and relationships, but it can also be a lethal weapon.
